He is joined by the tenor Neil Jenkins, cellist Rohan de Saram and a unique guitar ensemble comprising of TETRA, the Aquarelle Quartet, Apassionata Trio and Carl Herring with conductor Richard Wright.

This CD features recent works by the Welsh composer and guitarist Stephen Goss who is rapidly consolidating his reputation as one of the most exciting and original voices in contemporary music. “The Garden of Cosmic Speculation,” featured on the South Bank Show in April 2005, is performed by Gemini who commissioned the work. “Oxen of the Sun” was written for the guitarist Jonathan Leathwood and is scored for 10 string and 6 string guitars - played simultaneously! “An Ideal Insomnia” performed by pianist Graham Caskie explores the way in which objects, sounds and thoughts are distorted by the night and half-awake dreams. “Park of Idols” is a diverse collection of musical tributes written for Leonid Gorokhov (cello) and Richard Hand (guitar).

The TETRA Guitar Quartet play with exceptional brio on this an outstanding recording of imaginative arrangements and reworkings by Stephen Goss of the music of Bizet’s “Carmen” and Satie’s “Gnossiennes and Gymnopedies” together with his own composition “Lachrymae.” Also included are arrangements of such favourites as Falla’s “Ritual Fire Dance” and the two evocative Spanish pieces by Granados, together with an arrangement of “Eight Pieces” originally composed for four lutes by Stravinsky.

Performed by Joanna MacGregor on piano and keyboards and Andy Sheppard on saxophones, Deep River is an album of music from the Deep South inspired by Joanna’s trips to the Southern states of the USA. The album brings together tracks featuring traditional gospel tunes, a 1927 recording by William and Versey Smith and original interpretations of contemporary material by Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Alabama 3, Bob Dylan and Nick Cave. The album is produced by Joanna MacGregor with collaborators Andy Sheppard, Matthew Fairclough, Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) and Seb Rochford (Polar Bear / Acoustic Ladyland), using a mixture of acoustic and electronic instruments, multi-tracking effects and samples.

The first “5.1 Surround Sound” on the “Aurora” label contains three works by Natasha Barrett written and developed in the electronic domain. Barrett was born in England, but moved to Norway in 1999, and is a central figure on the Norwegian electro-acoustic scene.
