The soundtrack of The Draughtsman’s Contract became Nyman’s first international success in the area of film music and some of the pieces composed for this film remain hugely popular with concert audiences to the present day. As the music haD altered and expanded in 23 years’ of concerts, Nyman decided in 2005 to make a new recording with the Michael Nyman Band incorporating these changes.
The music for The Draughtsman’s Contract is familiar to a vast audience who’ve almost certainly never even seen the film as it has been extensively used in advertising and is among the most frequently played contemporary music on classical radio stations around the world.
