LOS ANGELES GUITAR QUARTET
Brazil
Format: CD / CD Cat. No: CD80686
Format: SACD / SACD Cat. No: SACD60686
- The Grammy award winning ensemble the Los Angeles Guitar perform compositions by Sergio and Odair Assad, Marco Pereira, Hermeto Pascoal, Baden Powell, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Heitor Villa-Lobos and others.
- Despite the fact that all of the members of LAGQ have been heavily influenced by Brazilians, this is the first time that they have recorded music from Brazil. It was the Brazilian born vocalist Luciana Souza who occasionally performs with the group who convinced them they must do this.
- In return they asked her to perform on Sergio Assad’s arrangements of Jobim tunes ("Jobim Medley") and a quartet version of Marco Pereira’s “Sambadalu”. Other pieces feature special guests Katisse Buckingham on flutes and saxes and Kevin Ricard on percussion. ‘Brazil’ was recorded at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in California.
