On this 2004 studio recording saxophonist/composer Bob Mintzer is joined by the current rhythm section for his Big Band which includes Jay Anderson on bass, Phil Markowitz on piano and John Riley on drums. Six of the nine songs featured on "In the Moment" were composed by Mintzer. The album also features two standards, "Listen Here" by Eddie Harris and "Time After Time" by Styne & Cahn. "Forgiveness", written by Phil Markowitz, concludes the album.

It was the last studio album that Lenny Breau recorded before his untimely death in 1984, and is the only studio recording of his seven-string acoustic guitar playing. He is joined by pedal steel guitar legend Buddy Emmons on several of the tracks.
